The Spring and Autumn Period is an important historical stage of Chinese society. Meanwhile, social productivity got great development, academic culture was full of vitality, but emperor had been declining and governors had been emerging so that the wars happened one after another and the masses had no means to live. In the face of vicissitudes of world filled with social contradictions, to pull the masses out of the oil and water, various scholars put forward social reforms,including educational reforms. As the Confucian put forward “benevolence” to rule the world; Mohist advocated “universal love”, ”non-attack”, “cherishing talents”; The Legalists advocated “ruling the country according to law”; Lao Tzu, full of humanitarian feelings for all the people, put forward “Inaction” to rule the country, and wrote five thousand words of wisdom: Lao Zi.Lao Zi, graceful and profound, is not only a philosophical monograph full of poems, but also a volume of beautiful poems filled with philosophy. The book contains rich philosophical thoughts of materialistic dialectics and harmonious thoughts: such as, “existence between to be and not to be”; “To require less will make you get what you want, but to demand more will make you confused”; “Both existence and non-existence can make our lives more convenient when they supplement each other”; “Cycling is the movement of the Tao; Being weak is the function of Tao”; “All things connote the Yin and Yang. The Yin and Yang keep acting upon each other. And thus things keep changing and unifying themselves”. Like these pearls of wisdom could be found everywhere in Lao Zi. Studying the past is to serve the present. Going into harmonious thoughts contained in Lao Zi and seeking wisdom from them are in favor of construction of modern moral education.This paper is divided into three parts to intensively analyze and systematically study the harmonious thoughts contained in Lao Zi by literature, historical and comparative research methods and combined with educational philosophy, educational theory, history of Chinese and foreign education, educational psychology and other theories of related disciplines.The first part is mainly to introduce lifetime of Lao Zi and historical background of his philosophical and harmonious thoughts. Firstly, Lao Zi and his book should be clarified. Secondly, researching historical background of philosophical and harmonious thoughts of Lao Zi is mainly through realistic basis and theoretical origin of these thoughts.Based on introducing and combing the lifetime of Lao Zi and historical background his philosophical and harmonious thoughts, the second part is used to give a interpret and analyze basic connotation of harmonious thoughts of Lao Zi through three dimensions that are contents, implementation models and status of harmonious thoughts of Lao Zi.The third part is mainly used to explore and analyze the influence and enlightenment of harmonious thoughts of Lao Zi through three dimensions that are coordinating “the relationship between human and nature”, “the relationship between people” and “the self relationship” as core contents of moral education of schools for students, the moral principle and method of teaching without words and constructing harmonious relationship between teachers and students.
