In the mid-1930 s, Lewin and Murray began the study of classroom environment. Since then, the study of classroom environment has been developed with expanding research scope gradually and achieved great success. The study of classroom environment in China start late and didn’t appear in ethnic minority areas since recent years. The studies mainly focus on high school and college English classroom and there are less study about primary school English classroom environment in ethnic minority areas. In order to understand the situation of primary school English classroom environment in Zhuang nationality areas, students and teachers in primary school of the Zhuang and Han nationality areas were invited to take part in the study. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are employed to analyze the primary school English classroom of the two areas in Guangxi Province.This article include six parts. The first part is the origin of the research including the background, the issue,the significance and the key concepts. The second part is literature review. It mainly analyze the literature about the classroom environment study at home and abroad and provide theoretical basis for this research. The third part is research design. It mainly include the selection of object, the methods, the research ideas. The fourth part is the establishment of the primary school English classroom environment inventory. It include the development of the inventory dimensions, items and analysis of the reliability and validity. The fifth part is the study result of primary school English classroom environment in the Zhuang and Han nationality areas. It include the difference of the two areas, the analysis of influencing factors. The sixth part is conclusion and recommendation. It mainly summarize the study result of primary school English classroom environment, then put forward constructive suggestions.Researcher refer to the result of the predecessors’ classroom environment research to develop the primary school English classroom environment inventory. The final inventory consists of three aspects from Moos’ classification of the human environment, 30 items in six dimensions. Students cooperation, relationship between teachers and students on the relationship dimension, task orientation, students class involvement on the personal development dimension, teacher support, teacher leadership on the system maintenance and change dimension. The internal consistency reliability is 0.93, shows that the inventory has high reliability. Confirmatory factor analysis shows that the inventory has good structure validity.483 students from the Zhuang and Han nationality areas Guangxi Province take part in the study. Apply the primary school English classroom environment inventory to investigate the general situation and difference between the two nationality. Result shows that the two areas students have good perception of the English classroom environment in general, but perceptions show distinguish difference between them. The Han nationality areas students have better perceptions than the Zhuang nationality areas students do. The Zhuang nationality areas students have better perceptions than the Han nationality areas students on the teacher support dimension. The Han nationality areas students have better perceptions than the Zhuang nationality areas students do on the task orientation and students cooperation dimension.Quantitative and qualitative methods including classroom observation and interview was adopted to analyze the major factors which influence the primary school English classroom environment. Result shows that many factors can affect the primary school English classroom environment, the main factors are grade, gender, education policy and language, cultural, economic. Finally, researcher summarize the study result and based on the conclusion to put forward the operational suggestions which improve the primary school English classroom environment.
