The P.E teaching model plays an important role in the system of P.E teaching. It is the bridge set between the basic theory of P.E and the practice of P.E. By introducing advanced experience, ideas and models abroad then putting them into domestic teachings, it will yield twice the result with half the effort.Sports education model is a kind of curriculum and teaching model that was put forward by a American scholar Siedentop in the 1980 s. It has been developed into a mature and complete theory that is accepted widely in the west through 30 years’ development. When it comes to helping students gain sporting knowledge and professional knowledge, it contributes a lot to the adaptability and the lifelong sports. Additionally, through group work, it manages to provide students with more meaningful and colorful experience. Certain knowledge about culture,courtesy and rules are to it to add to students’ passion on doing sports. Basketball is one of the most widely optional courses in college P.E. At present, college P.E. is presented mainly in the form of optional courses, thereby meeting different needs of students. Concerning to the practice, the course is organized by class. In other words, teachers do it by agreed teaching schedule where teacher is the leading role while students are required to finish the task designed by teachers. The main purpose is to value skills, but it doesn’t reach the teaching goal to a certain degree. Therefore, the introduction of sports education model is conductive to dealing with some existing problems.The paper is based on documentary analysis method, experts interview, teaching experiment,questionnaire and statistics.The subject of the research is the basketball course in Beijing Normal University. There are the following conclusions:(1)With regard to basic basketball skills, there are no differences between sports education model and traditional educational model. However, sports education model has more advantages than traditional educational model in two basic basketball skills.(2)The statistics shows that there is a difference in attitude between the experimental group and control group,including three attitudes,cognitive learning, emotional experience and behavioral intention, all of which performs better than the control group. So, compared with the traditional educational model, the sports education model is constructive to the attitude of basketball learning.(3)The students who take part in sports educational model are likely to choose basketball, gaining the knowledge of it.(4)The scientific group in sports educational model makes harmonious relationships among students. A single one prefers to make efforts for the whole team, enhancing the coordination within the team.(5)Most students accept the sports educational model, improving their interests, raising the confidence and strengthening communicative ability.
