The Sequence of number, as a crucial part of mathematics in the senior middle school, is the carrier for the mathematical way of thinking. Being a typical model of discrete function, not only does it carry the characteristics of function, but also has its own distinct features, bearing a close connection with other knowledge. Moreover, it is also a key convergent point in the elementary mathematics and higher mathematics. All these contribute to its importance in senior middle school mathematics. Learning transfer,one of the important objectives of mathematics education, is an insuperable to grasp the sequence of number. At present, research on the teaching of the sequence of number in senior middle school has achieved fruitful results, but application on the teaching of the sequence of number by transfer theory is limited. Therefore, teaching of the sequence of number based on transfer theory has a positive and practical significance.By reviewing the relevant literature, this paper discussed the learning transfer research, and then analyzed the feasibility of the use of learning transfer theory in teaching of the sequence of number. And then I try my best to design and pull together the factors that affect learning transfer and the characteristics of the sequence of number.In order to understand the effect of teaching practice using transfer theory in the teaching of sequence of number, the paper also collects many valuable opinions from some teachers and students. Finally through teaching practice and teacher-and-student interviews, the conclusions this paper has drawn are as follows:(1) With the theory being applied to the teaching of sequence of number, the teaching effect is greatly improved.(2)It provides students with an effective learning method, getting rid of the fear of difficulties, improving students’ enthusiasm to solve problems, and finally cultivating their ability to innovate.(3) Little concern is given to apply transfer theory in teaching ofsequence of number. According to the current situation of the teaching of sequence of number, the paper finally gives some suggestions.
