Objective To study the effect of perceived social support for nursing students’ anxiety and depression. Further more, we can explore the related factors that would affect the anxiety and depression, provide the basis for better mental health education for college students.Methods We adopt random sampling method and chose two universities in Anhui province. Then we used cluster random sampling to choose the whole class from different grade of nursing majority in colleges. 785 nursing students were tested with Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS), Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS) and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS).we used SPSS17.0 to analyze data.Results ①Nursing students’ anxiety and depression phenomenon is even more, respectively is 34.78% and 47.13%.②PSSS score with SAS and SDS were both negatively correlated(P=0.023, P=0.038), what’s more, the main effect of Perceived Social Support on anxiety(P=0.002) and depression(P=0.028) in the han nationality students is significantly.③Perceived Social Support score affected by family economic conditions, grade, academic, and whether to adapt to the collective life.Anxiety and depression are related to age, grade, the pressure of learning, relations with students and whether to adapt to the collective life.Conclusion Understanding social support is an important factor of influencing students’ depression. Improve the level of the students’ understanding social support would help to reduce the bad mood experience of students.
