The time during middle school is the critical period for teenager mental development,individuals will experience various complex problems which always affect the development of physical and mental health,including the strike comes from study,the relationship among teachers and friends,the harmonious degree with family,the support and care from parents and relatives,the self-esteem development and so on.The phase in junior middle school is the beginning and sensitive period of the teenagers’ development.At this stage,individuals are prone to various psychological problems.At the same time,Junior middle school students spend the largest proportion of life time in school,and most of their social relationships are concentrated on school.School life satisfaction will also have an impact on mental health.Therefore,it is very necessary to take junior middle school students as the objects of concern,study their psychological and behavioral conditions and combine the research results to give specific educational suggestions to create a comfortable and pleasant learning and living environment.Under this premise,this research attempts to explore the relationship between junior middle school students’ perceived social support and depression,introduces two variables of self-esteem and school life satisfaction and explores their intermediary role between perceived social support and depression,which provides theoretical help to improve the school life satisfaction of junior high school students and alleviate their psychological pressure.In this research,the questionnaire method was adopted to conduct an investigation in two middle schools in different areas of Kaifeng City.The relationship among perceived social support,self-esteem,school life satisfaction and depression and pedagogical implications have been discussed and studied.We adopted the Perceived Social Support Scale,Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale,Adolescence School Life Satisfaction Evaluation Questionnaire and Self-Rating Depression Scale to collect the data of our research objects,at last a total of 751 valid questionnaires were collected.Through methos like studying and applying descriptive statistical analysis,independent-samples T test,one-way analysis of variance,regression analysis and Bootstrap mesomeric effect analysis and so on to the following conclusions:(1)In general,the depression of junior high school students is in mild level.there are significant differences in gender,no significant differences in grade and age.The perceived social support of junior high school students is above the average level and there are no significant differences in gender,grade and age.The self-esteem of junior high school students is at the medium level,there are significant differences not in grade and age,but in gender.The school life satisfaction of junior high school students is above the average level and there are obvious differences in grade and age,but no in gender.(2)There was a significant association among four factors of junior high school students,including perceived social support,self-esteem,school life satisfaction and depression.Self-esteem performs the mediating function between self-esteem and perceived social support,school life satisfaction performs the mediating function between perceived social support and depression.Self-esteem and school life satisfaction perform a chained mediating function on perceived social support and depression.Conclusion: The perceived social support of junior high school students can not only directly influence the level of depression,but also indirectly affect the level of depression through self-esteem and school life satisfaction.Therefore,in the junior middle school stage,when teachers and parents pay attention to the mental health of students,they should not only focus on the depression level,but also pay more attention to other psychological factors of the students.Combine the results of this research,cultivate students’ high self-esteem,communicate with students frequently,and preceive their life satisfaction,which are indispensable channels.
