A Study Of Professional Services For Social Organizations Of People With Disabilities

The social organizations of people with disabilities can provide professional services. They could be aware of the needs and difficulties of people with disabilities acutely. They always integrate social resources and solve problems creatively. In recent years, many scholars have done some research through the social organizations and services for disabled people, those research provide a rich and solid theoretical foundation for the work helping disabled people and following explore. However, the research focus on social security or public service for people with disabilities. There are few researchers making social organizations as the main object of the study, not mention further study on professional services of social organizations.Based on existing research, this article will pay more attention to social organizations of disabled people and make it the main object of the study. The study will carry on based on the case of "Tongren volunteer-service center in Fujian Province" helping disabled teenagers. This paper discusses how to combine professional power with helping practices, Then it tries to find the common standards of professional services for helping people with disabilities. This study defines "professional services" for social organizations as using model process of general social work:receive, forecast, plan, intervention and evaluate, final. At the same time, its assessment on services effect should be dynamic. Certainly, social organizations’services must help people with disabilities effectively, resulting in their well-being.Lucky enough I participated much in helping disabled teenagers by center of "Tongren Zhucan". I have also worked for professional practice both in "Canyon service sector for social work in Shenzhen" and in program named "Charity Nets in Shenzhen@ Jiading district in Shanghai" for improving the ability to help disabled people. I learned much about the professional practice from Shenzhen, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The perfect practice inspired me thinking whether the nice experience would be some reference serving for social organizations in Fuzhou city? Through observation and interviews, I collect a large number of information of the case. Combining with the existed study in the field, the paper attempts to give reasonable suggestions for practical problems. The paper support case combining the Social theory with the Energized theory. And I look at the lack of the case with the help of the general process of social work mode and project management theory. Objectively viewing the project "Helping disabled teenagers" the author involved, it improved the bonding process of the work, for example planning the division of the stages, project management and get resources to plan as a whole, And it attaches great importance to the service record and effectiveness evaluation. But, there are still many disadvantages, for instance the demand for positioning is not accurate, target is not clear, disconnection between planning and implementation, etc.Based on the case of "Tongren Zhucan Center", I try to find the framework of "professional services" according with the case in this paper or broader social organizations, by applying the standards to evaluate assistive projects of other social work organizations. I put forward to giving several main points for professional services at the end of this article: First, the service object oriented,; Second, with appropriate and professional personnel; Third, the plan is easy to operate; Fourth, service process orderly; Fifth, draw lessons from the project management theory; Sixth, pay much attention to the service record and effectiveness evaluation. Social organization with people with disabilities could apply professional skills and methods based on the major "Social work" on practical services. At last, I hope that a little attempts and exploration in this article will provide some reference suggestions for social organizations with people with disabilities.
