The Research On Relationship Pattern And Its Effects Between Population Flow And Urbanization In Gansu Province

With the deepened development of reform and opening-up and the political system reform as well as rapid social-economic development in China,the floating population is increasing.The differences in social and economic development between rural and urb an areas as well as that among regions promote population movement,the large-scale po pulation flow and population redistribution has become an inevitable result in the proces s of urbanization.In our country, floating population mainly flows from rural to urban area, which is very important for promoting urbanization.On the one hand,population movement can narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas and among regions and promote the urbanization level,on the other hand,large-scale population flow also has brought about a series of problems in the process of urbanization.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to further study the migration and urbanization in Gansu province.Through collecting relevant data and analyzing literature related to the floating po pulation in Gansu province,this paper defines floating population and the statistic calibe r,it omprehensively analyzes the status and characteristics of floating population in Gans u province;Based on the analysis of the procession and the imbalance of urbanization i n Gansu province, it uses CPPS(China’s Population Prediction Software) to predict the t rend in urbanization of Gansu Province(2010-2050)on two hypotheses, the closed con dition (only considering the natural population growth) and population flow condition. At last, this paper utilizes Cluster analysis method for studying the relationship pattern between population movement and urbanization in Gansu province.It discusses the influ ence of floating population on urbanization and summarizes related social problems of th e floating population in the process of urbanization and provides corresponding sugges tions.In this paper, the major understanding and conclusions are as follow:(1)The main characteristics of the floating population in Gansu province are as follow:while the total scale is rapidly growing,it only accounts for a small proportion of national floating population.The floating population mainly flows within the provin ce.Inter-province population flow is under the state of the net outflow.The floating pop ulation are mainly distributed in the surrounding provinces and a few well developed provinces.Viewing from the flow distance,short distance and middle distance flow mak e up a bigger share of the population.Seeing from the reasons for migration,economic motives(flow into cities for work or business, training and learning)account for a larg er part,while the proportion of social motives(for marriage,seeking help from one’s relat ives or friends and so on) is declining.The living level of inflow family is slightly hig her than that of the outflow families.The number of family members who are brought by each outflow and inflow population were 0.6285,0.7644,respectively.From 2009 to 2010,the proportion of having two or more children of the provincial inflow women is lower than that of inflow woman in Gansu province.(2)Firstly,the urbanization growth rate of Gansu province is lower than of national average;Secondly,compared with the other four provinces in Northwest China (Xinxia ng, Ningxia, Qinghai, Shaanxi),the urbanization level of Gansu province is lower;Third ly,within the region urbanization development not balanced.Imbalance index of urbaniz ation of is larger relative to the provincial population,which is smaller relative to the b uilt area and non-agricultural employment.In the two assumptions, closed condition (on ly considering the births and deaths) and in the case of population flow, the author p redicts the trends of urbanization of Gansu province (2010-2050) in both cases and fi nds that the former one shows a year-on-year falling while the latter one is on the c ontrary,which means migration still has a positive influence on urbanization developme nt.(3)Nationally,the pattern of population flow and urbanization in Gansu province is the mode of relatively closed local spontaneous urbanization.The main characteristics of this model is that the population mobility is weak and the economy is lack of vital ity.Therefore,it is necessary to adjust the industrial structure and encourage migration,s o as to promote economic development.(4)This paper qualitatively analyses the influence degree of population flow on ur banization process and finds that for every one-point increase in the proportion of tota 1 population of floating population, the urbanization level of Gansu province can incre ase by 6.208%.(5)The problems of floating population in the process of urbanization are universa l,longevity,long-term and complicated.Problems,such as concentrating of floating populat ion distribution,housing,social security system and integration of the floating population, should be solved urgently.Based on the analysis of each problem, countermeasures are put forwarded.
