In this thesis, based on Chinese teaching practice, several classroom activities aredesigned for Chinese beginner students in intermediate schools overseas, includinglanguage games and task-based practice in the class, and are largely focused onvocabulary and simple dialog teaching. Practicability, variety, interest and cooperation areconsidered as the four principles of classroom activities design in order to arouseenthusiasm and improve motivation.Through the analysis of the activities records, all activities have been proved to beeffective in learning and the goals setted have been well achieved. On the other hand, theresult of the questionnaire on students shows that such classroom activities, in moststudents’ views, are helpful in learning Chinese language and culture. Similarly, all classteachers surveyed also reported very positively about the interest and involvement oftheir students in Mandarin.All of the classroom activities in this thesis have been tested to be effectual,therefore, they could be used in overseas Chinese teaching for future reference.
