| The university should strengthen the general education which has become a consensus, but how to optimize the general education is an important theoretical problem which needs to study. In the development of general education, the balance of general education and profes-sional education exists, the present study are not given a reasonable theory analysis in the field of education, which can conclude the proportion of two investment, this practical prob-lem is worth to be solve. In the view of labor economics, we put forward using the theory of human capital investment to discuss the balance of general education and professional education. In the foundation of the general education corresponds to enhance the general human capital and professional education corresponds to enhance specific human capital, we use the theory of the structure human capital investment to analysis of the optimal investment proportion and the problem of social needs for the structure of human capital.In this paper, we use cases to discuss deeply:first, the reform of general education in the university of Chicago by Hutchins is divorced from Social demand, leading to the investment of general education and specialized education are not balance. Second, the reform of general edu-cation in China shows that the change of the social demand is the most important power pro-mote general education and professional education changes the proportion of investment. Third, In the assumption of individual heterogeneity, the undergraduate civil engineering specialty of Zhejiang university in the case of the investment choices of general education and profession-al education show that the optimal investment proportion is different between students.In the development of general education, the university can build free and personalized platform for students and give students more and more autonomy, paying more attention to the training of the students’ personality and stepping up guidance to improve the validity and perti-nence of general education. |
