| Transformational leadership has become the focus of numerous studies since theearly1980s, and there was a great deal of considerable evidence proved thattransformational leadership is an effective form of leadership. Transformationalleadership fits the current advanced management philosophy very much, especially inthe field of education. This theory has an important value during the schoolimprovement and promoting the efficient development of the school. At present,transformational leadership’s dimension has been relatively clear in foreign countries,but most previous studies on the transformational leadership were conducted in theUnited States and other western countries, while the western countries and Chinaexperienced large cultural differences, which may have an impact on the concept andcomposition of leadership. In other aspect, empirical research about transformationalleadership mainly appeared in business management, but rarely in primary andsecondary schools. Hence that taking the primary and secondary school principals asresearch subject to explore the structure of transformational leadership based on ourlocal culture and understanding principal leadership’s development status havetheoretical value and practical significance.This paper was divided into five parts. The first part, i.e. introduction, includesthe research background, concept definition, research review, the train of thought,research method, etc. The second and third parts mainly explored the dimension ofprincipals’ transformational leadership which includes leader quality, decision-makingability, deeply motivation and care demonstration. The fourth part used the principals’transformational leadership questionnaire which have been designed in the third partto know the development status of the principal’s leadership and drew the conclusionsthat the principal got higher evaluation in leader quality and decision-making ability,they have a deletion in deeply motivation and they didn’t do enough in individualconsideration. Meanwhile the research provided the reason to the conclusions. Thelast part put forward some suggestion aimed at solving the shortcomings of principal’stransformational leadership. |
