Because of its vivid story lines,rich characters novels are loved by the majority of thestudents. The teaching of novel is surely an important content in the whole teaching ofChinese.It has an invaluable role in helping to enrich the students’ emotions, help them tounderstand and recognize the social life, and to form of the correct value of life and the world.The novels elected to the high school Chinese textbooks are breadth and depth in content.Italso has a variety of styles. But now the teaching of novels in high school are not sooptimistic. It has a serie of problems such as,"the students do not have so much interest init,teachers cannot teach well and students cannot study well either " and so on. Why is theresuch a situation? The reason is that teachers have not thought about what to teach in novels.This study attempts to be based on ordinary " Chinese curriculum standard" in high schooleducationcation, finding objectives and requirements of novels’ teaching, set off from thethree dimensions of language literacy to PEP high school Chinese textbooks, study highschool Chinese textbooks, to explore teaching content about novels. In addition to theintroduction,this paper is divided into five chapters.Introduction Part: describes the reason of the topic,pointing out the significance of thissubject,summarizes the related studies reviewed of novel teaching, and then defines relatedcore concepts of teaching contents, identifying research ideas and methods.Chapter One: The basis of Research on the novel teaching content in high school. Mainlyelaborating objectives and requirements of novel teaching in ordinary”Chinese curriculumstandard" in high school, combined with the characteristics of high school students in thephysical and mental development, after carding novels’ table of contents in PEP Chinesetextbooks of high school, identifies three dimensions of language literacy as the basis to carryout the study.Chapter Two: Research on the high-school teaching content of classical novels; ChapterThree: research on the high-school teaching content of modern novels. These two chapters arerespectively about research on the teaching content of classical and modern novels, mainlystudying the basic knowledge of the novels, the artistic technique of expression and readingmethods as well as the educational values of the novels on high school students. Chapter Four: Teaching case evaluation of the novels teaching in high school. Taking forexample the teaching and listening record taken by the writer during her teaching practice,this chapter mainly evaluates the teaching content of Lin coach Wind Snow Mountain Templeand Boarder Town.Chapter Five:Reflection on research. By summarizing the research on the content of novelsteaching in high school and comparing the teaching content between classical novels andmodern ones, this chapter points out that it’s critical to make clear the relations between andamong course content, teaching material content and of educational content, to handlecorrectly the relationship between teachers and students during the teaching of novels, so as toprovide meaningful reference for the frontline education of Chinese.
