Since2001,when the English Curriculum Standard put forward the Task-basedLanguage Teaching, this teaching method soon become popular with the domesticprimary and middle schools. TBLT highlighted the core of teaching as“people-oriented”. Classroom is a task-based language teaching, students will improvetheir study enthusiasm and ability to learn languages in the process of finishing thetasks. In the past ten years, there has been much research on the method done by thelinguists, there are also a lot of articles about the TBLT. However, few of them talkabout how to use TBLT in a specific aspect of English teaching. So, how is thefeasibility of this method used in oral English teaching in Junior high school? Whetherthe method can improve the students’ oral English ability or not? How to take TBLTeffectively in the class? These questions will be answered in the paper.The author has done experiment in grade eight in Dianjiang Second MiddleSchool in Chongqing for one term. In the process of the research, the author uses thequestionnaire and oral English test contrastive method to analyze and demonstrate theoperability of the teaching of oral English in junior middle school. Through thequestionnaire, the author knows the teachers’ understanding of TBLT as well as theirteaching methods, and the students’ learning attitude and most interesting ways instudying oral English. After that, the author uses oral English test to compare thescores of the two classes at the beginning and at the end of the experiment. Theconclusion shows that TBLT can improve students’ oral English ability, since the scoreof the students are significantly higher than that before the experiment. On the basis ofthe experiment and the previous study, the author goes further to sate the conclusionthat TBLT improve students’ oral English ability better than traditional methods ofEnglish teaching.
