There are many teaching approaches that are applied to junior middle school English teaching, each of which has a different teaching conception with its own merits and drawbacks. However Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) is an effective method to oral English teaching, which meets the New Curriculum Standard made by the Ministry of Education. The TBLT can dated back to the1980s. It is a teaching approach based on the using of communicative and interactive tasks as central units for the planning and delivery of instruction. It is an extension of the principles of communicative language teaching and an attempt by its proponents to apply principles of second language learning to teaching.(Richards, J. C. Platt, J.&H. Platt2005:649)Task-based Language Teaching can date back to the1980s, and it has been further developed in1990s. Many linguists, such as Brown, Duff, Candlin, Prabhu, Foster and Skehan have done the research on Task-based Language Teaching from different aspects. The approach focuses on "learning by doing". Students can finish the task and solve the problem, while students improve and develop their language competence. Many books and papers have discussed and researched the Task-based Language Teaching. Many English teachers are trying to apply it to their classroom in order to get effective teaching results, but they seldom mentioned how to apply Task-based Language Teaching to improve students’oral English in the middle school under the New Curriculum Standard. So this paper will discuss the implementation of applying Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) to middle school oral English teaching. And through TBLT method, students’oral English can be promoted and enhanced, which also meets the requirements of New Curriculum Standard. Therefore, this paper will talk about applying Task-based language teaching to oral English in the middle school under the requirement of New Curriculum Standard. |
