A Study On The Application Of Task-based Language Teaching To Oral English Teaching In The Junior Middle School

Task-based Teaching Approach was developed in the1980s and It especiallyrecognized and accepted by the linguists and foreign language teachers. It carries out thetask for teaching. During the process the students will learn how to do the participation,communication and cooperation. Students can learn language by using language,finding and solving problems, understanding language, hence sensing and experiencingthe success of learning at the finishing of a task. Learners learn the language from“doing-it” and do the task from “learning-it”.The period of junior middle school is very important for English learning. Forkinds of reasons, there are lots of problems for oral English teaching in junior middleschools. How to develop the English teaching，especially the oral English teaching isreally a problem. One of the main purposes of this paper is to discuss how to teach oralEnglish in Task-based teaching approach.The research methods of this paper are the questionnaire and experiment. Firstly,according to the requirement of the New Criteria for English Course in Middle School,some problems of oral English teaching in junior middle school will be pointed out andanalyzed. Then it pays attention to the importance of Task-based teaching approach.Secondly, the paper introduces the definition of “Task”,“Task-based teaching approach”and the related theories which include psychology and linguistics. Thirdly, the paperintroduces the principles and the teaching procedures of Task-based teaching approach.Fourthly, according to the different teaching methods to do the experiments. It will givesome of the examples during the Task-based teaching. The experiment figures show thatTask-based teaching approach is an advanced and efficient teaching method. It will also point out the problems and the solution methods. At last, it will make a summary for thepaper.
