| Since2004, our country has implemented a new round of basic educationcurriculum reform in high school. The program was first Introduced in2009in Baotou. That the improvements and implementation of new curriculumreform has led to new vitality for schools and chances for students during thepast four years. However, teachers, who practice the implementation of thenew curriculum reform, suffer from more pressure and challenges. This essayaims at the key high school teachers in Baotou city, and it is conducted in theform of interview and questionnaire, summarizing the high school teachers’work pressure. As a result, some of the corresponding relief strategies may bediscovered.This study is on the basis of the interview, referring to the new curriculumreform under the background of high school teachers work stressquestionnaire as research tools. It has conducted a survey of178key highschool teachers in Baotou. The conclusions are as follows:1. The work stress level of high school teachers, who are under thebackground of new curriculum reform, is higher. The main reasons for thisare: the overload work, management in the school, parents’participation,teaching innovation, students’factors, human relationships. Among them, thehigher aspect of pressure comes from teachers in the school managementlevel, overload work, parents’participation and the teaching innovation.Whereas, the influence from the rest is less.2. By analyzing teachers with different characteristics, it is found thathigh school teachers’ work pressure based on the new curriculum reformexists the following features:(1) Pressure of the men teachers is significantly higher than that of the womenteachers;(2) pressure experience is positively correlated with age.(3) married teachers feel more pressure than the unmarried;(4) teachers with higher titlehave much more pressure in the new curriculum reform;(5) class teachersexperience more working pressure than those who are not class teachers;(6)the teaching period has a significant influence on teachers’ work pressure,especially on the teachers in Grade3;(7) teachers who teach students withdifferent level in the same class have more stress than those who have thesimilar level of students;(8) teachers who manage a large size of class suffergreater;(9) teachers who have more weeks of lessons to give have biggerwork pressure.Based on the above research conclusion, this study may give somecorresponding suggestions to the educational department, the schooladministrators, teachers themselves and the future research. It is hoped thatthey will be able to effectively alleviate the pressure of the teachers’ work, topromote teachers’ professional development and encourage the newcurriculum reform. |
