Chemistry is a discipline based on the experiment. Scientific experiments are Chemicalfoundation and source of sustainable development. High school chemistry teaching must attach importanceto experimental teaching. This will be good for adolescent mental development and the cultivation of thescientific world outlook and methodology. The chemical experiment can let students get knowledge in therelaxed atmosphere, better understand and master chemical knowledge. Chemistry experiment is the soul ofchemistry discipline. In chemistry teaching, the chemical experiment is an important means of studentsacquiring and inspecting chemical knowledge, the main way for scientific inquiry, and the way ofimproving the students’ scientific literacy. The role of chemical experiment in the teaching is unable to bereplaced by other teaching methods. High school chemistry course is one of the important part of scienceeducation, it plays an irreplaceable role in improving the scientific literacy of students and promoting theall-round development of students. The new curriculum’s requirement is more clear. Chemistry teachingshould make students experience the process of scientific research, stimulate interest in learning chemistry,strengthen the consciousness of scientific inquiry, promote the change of learning style, and cultivate thestudents’ innovation spirit and practice ability through a variety of inquiry activities which give priority tochemical experiment.Chemical experiment is so important. This is the consensus on chemical education workers. Therefore, research on chemistry experiment has been uninterrupted. Especially in recent years, the studyof the chemical experiment and exploration is in full swing. Their efforts are of great importance for thechemical experiment teaching. Their research helped the progress of chemical experiment teaching.However, in most rural areas, from the students and their parents to school leaders and teachers, everybodycare about the college entrance examination very much. Exam-oriented education thought still run deep. Sohigh school chemistry teaching model is still traditional, and it didn’t understand the new curriculumconcept. The chemical experiment teaching of these schools didn’t get the attention which they deserve.This paper investigated the rural high school chemistry experiment teaching status quo inZhoukou, Henan province.The rural high school chemistry experiment teaching are discussed in this paper, mainly using the method of investigation and interview method. Taking examples of Xiangcheng First HighSchool, Dancheng First High School and Huaiyang middle school, the objects of the questionnaire surveyare chemistry teachers and students of the three rural high schools. Investigation content includes Chemicalexperiment teaching team and resources, teachers and students understanding of the chemical experimentcondition, teachers’ demonstration experiment, and student experiment.Through interview and questionnaire survey I found that in Zhoukou rural high school chemistryexperiment teaching has some problems.The chemical experiment concept falls behind.The demonstrationexperiment has problems. The group experiment has problems. The Chemistry experiment preparation hasproblems. The experimental evaluation has problems. Aiming at the problems in rural high schoolchemistry experiment teaching, I put forward the following countermeasures. Update teachers’experimental teaching idea and teaching method. Increase the input of chemical experimental education.Strengthen the chemistry experimental teaching evaluation.
