Geography is one of the key subjects of students learning. In geography teaching, weshould focus on the effectiveness of teaching. With the reform of curriculum, it is imperativeto improve the effectiveness of teaching geography. The ultimate aim of geography teachingis to make students a lifetime of geographical knowledge and adapt to the development ofsociety. Enhancing geography learning contributes students understanding the nature andhelping future development. In the new curriculum standards, classroom teaching is the key toquality education. It is also one of the most important components of the overall developmentof students’ quality to improve the effectiveness of teaching and enhance literacy of culturaland scientific knowledge. Regardless of how to update educational concepts and reform theteaching content, which should reflect on teaching of teachers and learning of students, andultimately reflect on teaching. Thus, the research of the effectiveness of teaching forms thebasis and destination for curriculum reform.In this paper, scientific theories about the constructivist theory, examples teaching theoryand multiple intelligences theory as a guide, first of all, clear the background of theeffectiveness of teaching geography class, summary research situation on the effectiveness ofteaching and propose to evaluate standards of the effectiveness of teaching, make teachingtheory and teaching high school geography together and explore the development strategy ofeffectiveness teaching of high school geography.According to reform and guide to the new ideas and theories of foundation curriculum,through questionnaires and interviews with relevant experts in geography education,combining with my actual teaching experience, this paper points out that the main problemsin school geography classrooms needed to be addressed. These problems are mainlyembodied in the majority of high school geography teachers understand the concept of theeffectiveness of teaching geography existence of errors, resulting in the presence of a certainbias in practice, such as lack of student autonomy in geography classroom, the bias ofclassroom orientation, teachers too little attention to the development of students,teacher-student chilly relationship in classroom, and too simple about teaching methods andevaluation methods. To seek the effectiveness of teaching is the essential characteristics oftoday’s teaching and a necessary requirement to achieve education legitimate development.The most fundamental purpose of researching on the effectiveness of teaching is to servethe development of each student, therefore, based on the effectiveness of geography teachingevaluation criteria, try to explore the developing strategies of the effectiveness of teaching, generalize and think the developing of the effectiveness of geography classroom in highschool and propose strategies to improve the effectiveness of teaching.
