| Classroom interaction plays a key role in classroom learning and therefore the effectiveness of interaction directly affects the effectiveness of student learning.After the new curriculum reform,the overall effectiveness of interaction in the high school geography classroom has been improved.In recent years,the “art exam fever” has gradually brought art and physical education students into the public eye,so the effectiveness of geography learning for these students has become a key concern for geography teachers.However,the study time of arts and physical education students is mainly concentrated in the classroom.Classroom interaction is an important way for high school art and physical education students to learn geography,so the improvement of interaction effectiveness can help cultivate core literacy in geography for art and physical education students.Based on the existing studies at home and abroad,this study establishes the “Evaluation System of the Effectiveness of Geography Classroom Interaction for High School Art and Physical Education Students” through literature research method,classroom observation method,comparison method and questionnaire survey method,which contains 4 primary indicators and12 secondary indicators,and divides the secondary indicators into two levels.The two groups of students,i.e.,regular students and students who do arts or sports,are compared in their performance over three classes.It is found that the geography class interaction of art and physical students has the following challenges:(1)interaction imbalance;(2)too monotonous to get students involved;(3)more about the answer itself instead of improving abilities;(4)colloquial and less organized expression due to lack of practice;(5)hard for teachers to take the class under control;(6)late in giving evaluation and singular evaluation subject;(7)lack of goals to test how interactive it is;(8)Students easily get distracted as teachers seldom walk around the classroom.This thesis puts forward the following strategies to improve the effectiveness of class interaction for art and physical students:(1)Make the interaction more balanced to allow more students to participate: divide students in several groups based on their knowledge levels and characteristics,and ensure students take turns to lead the group and are held accountable;arouse greater intellectual curiosity of students that may lead to much more positive interaction;(2)Consider both students’ strength and teaching contents when deciding interaction forms,which means motivating them to use what they know,and making the topics more student-related to enlarge interactions among student themselves;(3)Schedule interaction properly that allows students enough time to participate,and add time-limited discussions;(4)Ask questions that are reasonably difficult while based on students’ situation to inspire them to think;(5)Guide their speeches to be clearer and to the point with increased practice in written expressions and less use in regional words,and combine non-verbal expression as well;(6)Take good use of interaction by figuring out its purpose,and build a new type of teacher-student relationship with a much friendlier and relaxing vibe;(7)Diversify evaluation subjects and value students’ evaluation for better realization of teaching goals;(8)Make students more self-disciplined and focused in class. |
