Study On The Public Spirit Cultivating For The College Student Based On Volunteer Service

The public spirit is a kind of mental attitudes, values and personality with dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progressive, which is reflected in the implementation process of the public behavior. The public spirit is also the life source for inheriting the Chinese virtue, promoting morality and sustaining the volunteer service activities.The public spirit is the spiritual connotation of harmonious society, to cultivate the college students’ public spirit is an important subject in the ideological and political education, which is also of great importance for the college students’growth, as well as to build up a harmonious society. Volunteer service is a new carrier for contemporary ideological and political education, which opens a new space to cultivate students’public spirit. Therefore, to take a deep analysis of its development and the existing problems with students volunteer service activities as a carrier and to put forward some implementation ways, means a lot to strengthen and improve the personnel development in the college and to spread the positive power in the society.To study the function of the volunteer service on cultivating college students’ public spirit, this thesis follows the logical relations of "What’s the new development of the college students’public spirit"-"Why does it develop in this way"-"What to do in the future", with Marx’s all-round development of human being and practical view and Mao Tsetung’s being realistic thought, as well as Deng Xiaoping’s idea of people-oriented as theoretical bases, regarded literature research combined with empirical research, theoretical research combined with practical research as methods. This thesis concludes four main parts. The first part is the dialectical relationship between volunteer service and the public spirit of college students, the meanings and implementing possibilities of volunteer service on cultivating the college students’ public spirit are also discussed. The second part is to summarize the achievements that volunteer service has gained on cultivating the college students’ public spirit, and to analyze the problems that still existing based on the questionnaires. Those existing problems can be defined from five aspects, which are operation mechanism, development paths, contents settings, model selecting and establishing, and leadership training in the third part. The last part gives some countermeasures to those problems.Based on the above research, the results indicate that the volunteer service can effectively develop the function of the ideological and political education, and is a new carrier for cultivate the public-spirit of the college student. At the same time, the public-spirit cultivating for the college student based on volunteer service is more beneficial for improving the students’ moral quality, optimizing the external social image of the school, and further promoting the college students to be the positive energy to realizing the Chinese dream, as well as the construction of the socialist spiritual civilization and the socialist harmonious society.
