Improving students’ ability of autonomous learning is not only requirements of socialdevelopment but also the need of students’ lifelong development. It is well known thatcultivating students`ability of collecting and processing scientific information, ability ofobtaining new knowledge, ability of analyzing and solving the problem, ability ofcooperation and communication as well as the ability of innovative thinking and practice ismore important during junior high school.This paper is guided by the modern diathetic educational thought, supported bymodern learning theories, using literature research, experimental research, investigation,interview method and other research methods in order to discuss how to penetrate themethod of autonomous learning for students into teaching biology at the junior high schooland how to cultivate their autonomous learning ability.The author guides the students to study biology independently step by step withanalyzing the contents of the four textbooks published by Jiangsu Science&TechnologyPublishing House and exploring the situation of the students’ autonomous ability. Theresearch results at present show that the teachers successfully create a happy andharmonious learning environment for the students by changing the teaching ideas andteaching mode. Studies also increase the students’ interest in learning and improve thestudents’ autonomous learning ability by strengthening the teaching method and strategyon biology, as well as help the students know how to self-monitor their learning process.
