As more and more public high schools introduced a variety of high-school international curriculums, IBDP program, with its broad international perspective, the concept of holistic education and the education objective of becoming a lifelong learner, is the most widely recognized by the international society. The purpose of introducing IBDP program by public schools is not just to meet the need of students who would like to study abroad or to receive international education. More importantly, the purpose is to apply the concept and idea of modernization and reform to the modernization of our nation’s education. The study found that the public school’s experience could be completely migrated, translated and used in the modernization of China’s high school education.In the first part of this study, I mainly used the methods of literature research and comparative studies to analyze the setting of IBDP mathematics curriculum, and to find the characteristics of the new version of IBDP mathematics syllabus and the differences between the IBDP mathematics curriculum standards and Shanghai high-school mathematics curriculum standards, and further identified some possible advices.The second part of this study was to investigate the effect of implementation of IBDP mathematics curriculum in a public high school (School A). By means of student questionnaires and teacher interviews, I deeply studied in many aspects including curriculum characteristics, students’evaluation and satisfaction, teachers’ training, teaching and research activities, teachers’ professional development, curriculum implementation problems encountered in the process and solutions, opinions and suggestions and so on.The last part of this study provided some conclusions and suggestions for the modernization of our nation’ s high-school education. In the process of education reform, we should focus on:the diverse needs of students and providing multi-options in education, curriculum innovation and students’critical thinking ability, internal assessment model and comprehensive evaluation of students’ development, the reform of teaching&learning manners and the application of digital information technology, the fluent transition between high-school and university education, international exchanges and cooperation, students’ international perspective, and the professional development of teachers.
