Quality education has been implemented for more than ten years. As an important part of quality education, music education has been received extensive attention. In foreign countries, especially in primary and secondary schools, music education has aroused people’s attention for a long time, and many researches have been conducted about it. More scientific and independent music education systems have formed in many countries. Since20th century, especially the1940s and50s, some famous foreign music education systems have gradually formed, which led their methods of music education to enter formal channels. This not only promotes the rapid development of the theory and practice of school music education, but also widely spreads around the world, causing quite a stir. At present, music education systems in our country have been taking shape, but specific implementation methods still leave something to be desired.This thesis takes six representative middle schools in Tai’an city of Shandong province as research objects. By means of documents, questionnaires and interviews, the thesis is meant to describe and analyze the present situations of music education in middle schools of Tai’an city, including teaching management, teaching facilities, teachers’fundamental qualities and their teaching abilities etc,. Several personal suggestions are put forward based on problems reflected in the survey.After Ministry of Education in China put’New Course Standard into implementation in2001, Tai’an city actively promoted reforms of new curriculum within the whole city, thus making a new plan for music curriculum in primary and secondary schools. Because of these, music classes enjoy a steadily rising number; music teach’ng equipments are improved; and extracurricular activities about music are also becoming increasingly rich and colorful. Although some achievements have been achieved in music education, there still exist various problems. For example, the impacts of negative factors emerge in an endless stream in the development of music education. The education department should actively find problems and solve them based on reality to make music education better develop. The author hopes that through this investigation of the development status of music education of middle schools in Tai’an City, more useful education programs can be proposed according to merits and demerits of music education, which undoubtedly has practical significance and provides guiding methods for further developments of music education of middle schools in Tai’an...
