Classical poetry is the essence of Chinese language art, whichinherits the outstanding character and quality of China and hasa unique modern charisma. Classical poetry teaching has been atradition of China for a long time. As a carrier of traditionalculture, it is not only an important way to first languageacquisition, but helps a lot to promote high school students’language and cultural accomplishment.Compared with the poetry teaching in junior middle school andprimary school, high school poetry teaching is more concentratedin language and filled with philosophical implication in content. There is a deeper literary accomplishment and humane feelings andmore diverse expression techniques, which is consistent with thehigh-speed development of high school students’abstract thinking, self consciousness and learning subjectivity. Reception aestheticsemphasizes the readers’subjectivity involved in the constructionof text meaning and value, providing the theory support to highschool classical poetry teaching which is as a reception activityof text. The quality of high school poetry teaching can reflect thequality of Chinese education to some extent. Viewing high schoolpoetry teaching in the perspective of reception aesthetics, taking the background and significance of high school poetry teachingresearch as a premise, through literature study and questionnairesurvey, based on the expected visions, calling structure and visionfusion of the reception aesthetics, this study has found that thesubjectivity, motility and creativity of high school students, who are bearing the responsibility of inheriting the outstandingChinese traditional culture, is insufficient in learning poetry. That is mainly caused by utilitarianism drive, absolutism residuesand training and leads to inefficiency or even invalidity of highschool poetry teaching.
