The thesis takes obese college students as research models and collects parts ofstudents who meet the qualification of BMI>24in the test of the health of personalconstitution in the fiscal year2010-2011in Hunan University of Arts and Science tobe the concrete research models. The duration covers20weeks and the frequency is60minutes a time and5times a week and the subject for the research is extracurricula clubs of physical exercises. The index assaulted to is the Measure Chart ofPhysical Dignity edited by Xu Xia and the items tested are physical shapes andsporting capacities. The aim of the research is by studying the effects of taking partin various extra curricula activities on part of both sexes to figure out theimprovement of personal dignity, physical shapes and sporting capacities to obesecollege students. The results of the research are: The physical conditions of students of bothsexes tested are more or less improved, yet the level of improvement of malestudents far surpasses that of female students and the gap is big and obvious. As toother aspects like the sense of value of personal physical body, sporting capacitiesand physical quality, the differences between male and female students are notdramatic and huge.As to male obese college students, the level of improvement for those whoattend sports aerobics are better than those who play basketball concerning the senseof value of personal physical body and physical condition. The reasons for thedifference largely due to the difference of qualities of the two games. Sports aerobicsis a game that shows difficulty and beauty of presentation, while basketball is agame that requires competition and confrontation on the same floor. So it’s nowonder that for those male students who are inclined to present the sense of physicalsuperiority with strength to choose the game that requires competition andconfrontation on the same floor is not preferable to them. This to some extent revealsthat obese college students are not confident in the sense of value of personalphysical body and physical condition. Those female students who choose sportsaerobics and martial laws that present difficulty and beauty are more interested in the control of their bodies and the presentation of personal beauty and focus more onthe attraction of their bodies. Now that females are considerably weaker in physicalcapacities, it’s difficult for them and less attractive for them to choose ball gamesthat require body confrontation because their physical capacities and skills are lessavailable.Aerobic exercise is an effective way for obese male students to keep fit becauseto attend sports aerobics help lose weight more rapid than playing basketball orvolleyball. As for obese female students, to attend sports aerobics is positive inimproving their body shape. Females are weaker physically and less energetic andit’s no doubt that to play basketball and volleyball which are characterized with lessanaerobic exercise and require explosive force and absolute velocity is not thepriority for them to lose weight. The requirement of medicine ball on the strength of arms and concerted force ofthe whole body is very high. So to play basketball is more effective in perfecting theperformance of medicine ball than playing volleyball or practicing martial laws. There are established series of skills and tricks both in sports aerobics and martiallaws and most of the acts and series should be repeated many times, the stimulus onthe muscles is weak and the tensity is less impressed in the long run and theefficiency of anaerobic exercise on body is obvious and it’s also very effective inimproving the capacity of heart and lungs, notably the breathing capacity of malestudents. As to female obese students, to play basketball could dramatically improvetheir results of50meter run. The reasons for females to have greater interest in50meter run than practicing martial laws are largely because they have moreenthusiasm and positiveness. To obese male students, there is linear relation between the change of results of50meter run and the improvement of the sense of value of physical body; there islinear relation between the raise of long run and the improvement of physicalcapacity and dimensions; there is linear relation between the raise of long run andthe improvement of physical conditions and the narrowing of girth; there is linearrelation between the narrowing of buttock-line and the improvement of physicalquality and physical attraction dimensions;there is linear relation between the raiseof50meter run and the improvement of physical quality; As to female obese students, there is linear relation between the change ofweight and buttock-line and the change of the sense of value of physical body andthe sense of value of physical body will be improved with the narrowing ofbuttock-line, while the change of perception of sporting capacity has linear relationwith the change of girth and the perception of sporting capacity will be improvedwith the narrowing of girth; The change of the perception of sporting capacity is a complex process and thedecrease of BMI,50meter run and standstill jump and the increase of the marks oflong run will improve the physical conditions of female students; there is linearrelation between girth and the results of long run and the change of body attraction;there is linear relation between the change of girth and the results of the perceptionof female physical capacities. The author of the thesis suggests that by advocating extra curricula clubs andaerobic activities those who are in the field of college education could instruct obesecollege students and lead students of both sexes to strengthen appropriate evaluationon their dignity of body. In the same time, they could enhance obese college studentsto cultivate the habit of taking part in sports exercise for the rest of their lives.
