Plane analytic geometry is an important part of high school mathematics,especially in the area of training mathematical thoughts like the idea of combiningnumbers with shapes.To study the cognitive levels of teaching content andcorresponding the requirement of the students to the students’ cognitive stages andcharacteristics,is a meaningful work in educational research.In this paper,the Van HieleLevels was taking as the research foundation,combined with the high school curriculumand textbooks of beijing normal university version,through the research methods ofsenior high school students’ tests and interviews to know their cognitive levels andcharacteristics in plane analytic geometry and analyzes the problems and causes of theproblem according to the cognitive level and the difference of different students, at lastsome suggestions are given.The main conclusions of this article are:First of all,the current situations of high school students cognitive level in planeanalytic geometry are:(1)The overall senior one and senior three students have reachedthe descriptive level, the senior two only reached the visual level;(2) There have nosignificant difference both in the visual level and theoretical level between male andfemale students,but in the descriptive level,the difference is significance;(3) There havesignificant difference completely in the visual level and descriptive level and theoreticallevel between male and female students;(4) The three grades have significantdifferences in cognitive level.Second, the high school students have problems in preliminary knowledge of theplane analytic geometry are:(1)The understanding of the concept is not verycomprehensive;(2)The lack of studying on the formula and theorem;(3)The ability ofcombining numbers with shapes is poor.Third,the reasons of the problems what the high school students have arebecause:(1) The college entrance examination evaluation is singleness;(2) The lack ofteachers’ teaching methods;(3) The learning styles of students are monotonous;(4)Theoffered courses are inappropriate.Finally,the revelations of teaching are:(1) Focusing on the concept of plane analytic geometry teaching;(2) Focusing on the process of plane analytic geometry teaching;(3)Focusing on the reviewing in plane analytic geometry;(4)Focusing on training studentsinterested in learning plane analytic geometry;(5)Focusing on the reasonable applicationof technology;(6)Focusing on Paying highly attention to the cognitive characteristicsand cognitive differences among students;(7)Focusing on exercising and improvingstudents’ math thinking.
