Teaching material treatment is a teaching process during whichteachers are trying to recreate teaching materials. According tothe new curriculum, when processing teaching materials, teachersare expected to balance the relationship between circulatingknowledge and cultivating skills and focus on helping studentsdevelop their conscious of learning independently.To reveal the characteristics of the professional developmentof novice mathematical teachers in different regions, the authorconduct the research in Guiyang Guizhou and Yichang Hubei.Combining the author s own working and learning experiences, theauthor compare the way in which the new teachers process theirteaching materials in Guiyang and Yichang in terms of how to extend,improve, mine, reorganize and conclude the ready materials throughdocumentary analysis, classroom observation, teaching videoanalysis and questionnaire survey. The main conclusions are listedas follows.1. Novice teachers in Yichang extend more of the ready teachingmaterials, but what they have done may conflict with studentsadoption ability.2. Neither of the teachers in Yichang and Guiyang improve the readyteaching materials on a large scale, which needs to be enhanced.3. Novice teachers in Guiyang dig and make more use of the readyteaching materials than those in Yichang.4. Teachers in Yichang and Guiyang reorganize the ready materialsin different ways due to the arrangement of their schools. Teachershave little freedom to reorganize the materials as they wish.5. Although both of the teachers in Yichang and Guiyang pay muchattention to concluding the textbook, there are difference betweenthe provincial-level demonstration Senior high school and theordinary ones.
