| Morality education is an important content for the ideological and political education. Weshould make a reasonable analysis so as to provide fundamental basis for solving the moralindifference phenomena among undergraduates. Moral indifference is the significant objectof study referred multi-disciplinary fields like ethics, sociology and social psychology. Thisthesis will closely centre on the factors of moral indifference which caused by the moralindifference undergraduates, i.e. the actors themselves from the ethics angle to study thephenomena. Therefore, this thesis will deeply dissect the component factor and the erroneouszone of the moral indifference undergraduates from the aspects of moral cognition, moralfeeling, moral will and moral behavior through defining the connotation connotation of moralindifference and the base on the connotation, major characteristic and type to make greatefforts for the converting of them. This study has not only the significant theoreticalsignificance but also the pressing practical significance.Many scholars have studied and done the annotation to the connotation of moralindifference from the multi-angle like sociology and social psychology. This article explainsthe connotation of moral indifference and the moral indifference undergraduates. Moralindifference is the inappropriate behavior of moral choice and the negative act of moralbehavior caused by the mutual interaction suffocated by the individual moral sense due todifferent moral cognition and individual emotion. That means although the individual knowsomething about the moral relationship and moral rule, they turn a blind eye to the moralrequest in the realistic society, ignore the interpersonal moral relationship and don’t concernabout moral behavior and even more. The moral indifference in the ethics is not only relatedto the exterior moral behavior but also related to the moral cognition, moral feeling and moralwill. The moral indifference undergraduates are the ones have moral in difference among theundergraduates. They have four main characteristics: lack of moral courage, disappearing ofmoral sense of trust, insufficient of moral concern and love and nonperformance of moralobligation. According to the ideological characteristics of undergraduates, this article dividesthe moral indifference undergraduates into two kinds, the ones persist their old ways and theones swim with the tide, and according to the different attitude towards life and study, theyare divided into the ones persevere in their studies in spite of hardships and the ones loveease and hate work. The reasons why the undergraduates have the action of moral indifference are for moralcognition, moral feeling, moral will and moral behavior. Since the latter two have closerelationship, they are put together to be analyzed.Moral cognition is the origin of moral indifference and the precondition of its production.The undergraduates’ moral cognition has constructive function of knowledge hierarchy,behavior guide function and moral education function. Among the moral cognitionundergraduates, they believe their indifference behavior is also reasonable. This is becausetheir moral cognition has two main supports: the undergraduates’ daily moral experience andtheir habitual moral thought. The daily moral experience and the so-called tradition are oftenthe source of the misconception for undergraduates. In addition, there are two obviousproblems to the moral cognition of moral indifference undergraduates, one is their cognitivedissonance, and the other one is their neglect to the morality. They are also the reasons whythe undergraduates have the moral indifference on the aspect of moral cognition.Moral feeling is the feeling medium to the production of moral indifference. Manyfeelings like sympathy, sense of obligation and sense of honor compose the moral feeling ofundergraduates which has the psychological experience function, information conveyancefunction and over boost function to moral behavior. The twist or deficiency for moral feelingon the aspect of moral feeling is the reason to the production of moral indifference undergraduates. From the feeling formation aspect, the particularity of feeling of sympathy, senseof obligation and sense of honor for moral indifference undergraduates reflects theiremotional problems. Their sympathy weakens not only just related with the circumstance andthe experience they grow up but also related with the lack of the social supervision by publicopinions. The short of sense of obligation are both connected with the cognitivecompetence of individual morality and the sense of obligation education at school and in thesociety. The uncertain to the sense of honor are mainly concerned with their familyatmosphere and the honor education they accept. From the emotional contact, it primarilyrefers to their consciousness indifferent for the interpersonal communication andcommunication barriers for their affective interaction. Both of them lead the deficiency ofundergraduates’ moral feeling and are the primary causes for moral indifference.Moral behavior is the practical activity which has moral significance to others and societyunder the function of subject moral sense. The freedom of choice to the moral behavior forundergraduates contains both will freedom and right freedom. Will freedom is the freechoice between good and evil, morality and immorality and right freedom is the free rightwhich the undergraduates own for the moral behavior. The anomie of moral behavior and the twist to will freedom produces the moral indifference undergraduates. Their anomieof moral behavior is mainly the separation of their moral behavior and moralpersonality while the twist to will freedom directly leads to the phrenasthenia of moralwill. These are the significant causes to the appearance of moral indifference undergraduates.All in all, the formation of the moral indifference of undergraduates has close relationshipwith the moral cognition, moral feeling, moral will and moral behavior. Centre on theundergraduates’ moral behavior, objectively analyze the moral indifference phenomena mayprovide fundamental basis for solving this problem effectively. Nothing but to deeplyunderstand the reasons of its production, we will come up with the right way to solve theproblem to make the converting of the moral indifference of undergraduates come true andimprove the undergraduates’ quality, cleanse the social environment and promote the benigndevelopment of society. |
