| Concluding from many documentary records, this paper argues that modern westerncitizenship education laid stress on all kinds of individual rights, heteronomy instead ofself-discipline. When China is implementing this concept of citizenship education in the progressof modernization, the cultural background is much different that the long-lasting Confucianconvention emphasis on one personal obligation, introspection rather than the request. Due to aseries of frustration in the last two centuries in the Chinese domestic and foreign affairs, result inthat beggars cannot be choosers. A continuous radical movement had appeared one after another,like the overcorrection, malpractice, negation and discard of the traditional Chinese civilization,the prominent performance in modern education is fastening on personal demands and rights,ignoring the responsibility and commitment and drying up the nourishment of one’s faith and lifewhich unsatisfying the well-educated image when someone graduated.A person’s morality growth is cultivated in the practical process, so that experience issignificant and indispensable, if the regular moral curriculum was just arrange some puretheories about good, such good concept can easily becoming a dull weakness of a sermon.However, if starting from literature, art, religion and faith, it is easier to reach a consensus. Thevalue of a man is produced in interpersonal communication, which this interaction essentially isa kind of exchange about thought, spirit and personality, besides, people should have higherlevels of things such as faith to guide their intelligence, i.e. the pursuit of the truth in theuniversities.This paper hopes that carry on the renaissance of traditional culture, especially theConfucianism, as the value standard or principle to regulate the social life. The implementationof moral education lies in the arts edification, public service, and social responsibility, it shouldtakes full advantage of hi-tech to shape the overall development. The so-called Confuciancitizenship education is not passivity and stationary, but the initiative and practical. |
