The Impact Of Changes In Myanmar’s Political System On Myanmar’s Economy And Sino-myanmar Economic And Trade Relations

Myanmar is located in the southeast of Asia, the northeast is China, it is an important neighbor of China, the China-Burma border line is more than 2000 kilometers, the stability of the regime in Myanmar is vital to the stability of China’s Southwestern; and Myanmar has strategic location, rich natural resources, which is one of China’s important energy supply countries, the stability of Sino-Myanmar economic and trade relations is important to China’s energy security; especially in 2011, after Myanmar’elected government came to power,the government ended Chinese investm Leipzig pond Copper project and Myitsone hydropower station construction project with the reason of people’s livelihood,environmental protection and other grounds, so the study of The impact of Changes in Myanmar’s political system on Myanmar’s economy and Sino-Myanmar economic and trade relations is particularly important for the new political situation.Firstly, this paper using historical research review the four historical development periods of Myanmar with the order of history since independence in 1948, followed by the west way of parliamentary democracy based U Nu period, Ne Win led Burmese Way to Socialism construction period, Su Maung Shwe dictatorship, and Thein Sein democratic reform period; then analyzing the current situation of Myanmar’s economic development situation and economic and trade relations between China and Myanmar, then research combing with the political system change process to study the impact of Changes in Myanmar’s political system on Myanmar’s economy and Sino-Myanmar economic and trade relations, the study found: the impact of institutional change on Myanmar’s economic development, industrial structure and import and export trade is significant, the Myanmar government ‘s economic development policy under different political systems influence the Myanmar’s economic development and foreign relations. In addition, China is Myanmar’s main trading partners and the largest source of investment, trade between China and Myanmar exhibit good complementary, but Chinese investment areas is concentrated, the main part is single, and Myanmar has always been in a deficit position in the Sino-Burmese trade, and the deficit is gradually expanding.Finally we draw the relevant conclusions from the above analysis, and from Myanmar,China and the China-Burma two parties several angles,we put forward policy recommendations to promote Myanmar’s economic development and sustainabledevelopment of economic and trade relations between China and Myanmar.
