Research On The Opportunities And Difficulties Of Chinese Public Sphere Formation From The Perspective Of Network Participation

As a consequence of the new technological revolution, network is a significant tool when involving with twenty- first century social development. The Internet indicates that human society has entered a brand- new stage. It is more than a tool, but a network which involves all the related people’s daily work and lives. Internet attract so many people as its convenience, speed, openness and so on and become an important platform for communication and political participation to some extent.As a platform for communication, Internet is associated with public sphere naturally raised by Habermas. The internet participation’s convenience, diversity and interactivity even let some people believe that they have entered network public domain age, in which the public can discuss certain topics on the internet freely. C hina is a developing country who has rapid rise in recent decades. In this country, the network is not only an important channel of public access to information, at the same time, it challenge traditional media and create a platform on which everyone can freely express their views. Public events transfer through network, and soon enlarge the influence on traditional media and government. Currently, China’s Internet users has exceeded 650 million active users. They participate in social and political event all the time. The prosperity of Internet public opinion has become an important feature of China’s Internet development. "999 emergency door event", which is mentioned by this article, is a typical case which indicates China’s internet public boom. However, we has to admit that there is still a long way to go for China to come into being public domain. There are still many problems involved in the network in C hina, such as participations are not completely rational. Public network exits some false or violence information; Technology the network is not completely universal. Digital divide still exists; laws and regulations mechanisms are not perfect, which can be insinuated by "999 emergency door" incident. It is our common aspiration to generate network public domain, which is also an important manifestation of C hina’s democratic polit ical progress. Based on existing opportunities and difficulties management and improvement are still needed from technical and institutional view. Participants involved in the network is also an important role to manage, based on which we can realize equal dialogue between government and rational public, and also maintain their interest in the network of public space.
