The problem of “Loss-of-single-child family” is one of the hot social issues which has aroused widespread concern in recent years, Its appearance was caused by our unique national conditions. According to their region, these families can be divided into urban ones and rural ones. The proportion of one-child in urban is much higher than in rural areas, as a result, the proportion of “loss-of-single-child family” is also higher than rural’s. Those families in urban is showing some typical difficulties such as family structure and Living mode, etc. Research on the problems in “Loss-of-singlechild family” will play a positive role in leading the establishment and promotion of the pension system for this group in our country.We started late in the theoretical study on the problems of the “loss-of-single-child family” in our country, therefore, research basis is relatively weak. At present, relevant studies on this issue showed that we lack the systematic data. And meanwhile, previous studies have more concentrated on the theoretical discussion, less on the practical and operational research. In the practice aspect, the government and society have already participated and innovated actively for the services work of the “loss-of-single-family” in recent years and have achieved good results in the construction of institutional mechanisms to assistance work. But there also exist some problems: protection efforts is insufficient, security system is not perfect, material and spiritual assistance is not balanced, and so on. Although there is a more advanced and better pension system in foreign countries, but due to the differences in geographic, cultural and economic and other aspects, we can not copy the system completely. So we should fully take into account our national conditions to improve the shortages on assistance mechanism, the form of aid and assistance platform in the urban “loss-of-single-child family”.Improve the construction of support system for the “loss-of-single-child family” in urban is an important measure for our country to maintain the social stability and accelerate the economic development, simultaneously, it is also the inherent requirement to build a socialist harmonious society. This article analyzed the sort of the security mechanisms and measures in our country by reading literatures form home and abroad, according to the national conditions, it made the following suggestions: Establishing the multiple subjects participation system to assist those parents who lost their single child, Improving the legal system for Loss-of-single-child parents, Paying attention to the balance between the material and spiritual assistance, Increasing the medical security efforts for parents who lost their only child, Establishing a suitable pension model for those families according to their actual needs, Building a platform for these parents to communicate and help each other.
