On Constructing Of Three Dimensional Capital Of College Student Volunteers Participating In Voluntary Service

This paper studies the promotion of construction of three dimensional capital of college student volunteers, who participated in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The 12 people studied in this paper are qualified for these standards: members of Hebei volunteer team of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, then college students while volunteering, graduated from 2009 to 2013, and found jobs before interviews of this paper.Related concepts of this paper are defined with the help of relevant literature review, which are volunteer, voluntary service and three dimensional capital. By the same time, the relations among social capital, human capital and psychological capital are also discussed. And then, the original materials, collected from these then college student volunteers by interview, are analyzed to discover the influencing elements of formation of social capital, human capital and psychological capital through three different ways, trying to picture the construction of three dimensional capital assisted by the experience of voluntary service: constructing social capital from the density of social network, intensity of social interaction, and resources flow through social network; enriching human capital by promoting individual’s knowledge, experience, skills and degree of education; upgrading psychological capital through improving confidence and proactive attitude.It should be noted that the college student volunteers’ social capital, human capital and psychological capital may also be obtained or enhanced from other sources, participation of voluntary service is not the only way. The construction of three dimensional capital studied in this paper is limited to the college student volunteers who received it from participation of voluntary service, only.
