Study Of Letters And Scholars’ Living State In Eastern Han Dynasty

As an important style of Chinese ancient prose, letters not only originated early,used frequently, but also had both practicability and aesthetics. During the developing process of letters, the letters of Eastern Han Dynasty made a great contribution. In this dynasty, the letters increased in numbers, enriched content, developed many types.They reflected the social morality of the Eastern Han Dynasty objectively, revealed the real living state of the scholars. After the arrangement and research, this article investigated the preservation and propagation of the letters of Eastern Han Dynasty,contacted the letters with the research to the existence of scholars closely, revealed the value and significance of the letters adequately.The introduction of this article summarized the basic information of the letters of Eastern Han Dynasty, analyzed the research status, and illustrated the significance of selected topic.The first chapter investigated the causes of the rise of the Easter Han letters on different ways, such as politic, culture, consciousness, material and system. The second chapter contacted the letters with the mentality of the Easter Han scholar,expounded the difference of the scholars in Western Han and Eastern Han Dynasties,the philosophical state of the Easter Han scholars, and the relationship between them.The third chapter put emphasis on the Easter Han scholars’ life, explored their attitude to life, living philosophy and life interests. The fourth chapter analyzed the person-evaluation in Easter Han Dynasty, discussed the feature of the scholars’ evaluation and the literary criticism in the letters.The appendix of this article focused on the literature research on the letters of Eastern Han Dynasty. This appendix investigated historical biography and Tang and Song Genus-books’ contribution to the preservation and dissemination of the letters,analyzed the letters’ change in historical biography and the excerpt and classification of the letters in Tang and Song Genus-books.The key problem of this article is researching the existence of the Easter Han scholars by the Easter Han letters.
