A Report On The Translation Of Pakistan: Eye Of The Storm(Chapter 1 To 3)

China and Pakistan enjoys the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. For China, Pakistan has a very important value of cooperation. In2014, China and Pakistan officially launched China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project. The part in China is located in Xinjiang. The cooperation between China and Pakistan through China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project is important for economic development and regional peace in both countries.This thesis is a translation practice report about the writer’s translating experiences and reflections based on her translation of Pakistan: Eye of the Storm. The book is aWesterner’sview at Pakistan’s history and politics.By translating this book is conducive to peace, stability and development in Xinjiang and to be further safeguard national unity.The writer’s translation practice is guided by the coherence rule, the Skopos rule and the fidelity rule of Skopos Theory, from which the writer chose proper translation techniques and methods to comply with the different rules of the Skopos Theory. The writer gave examples to analyze how her translation practice could be guided under these rules.On the lexical level the author took contextualamplification, contextual omission, contextual conversion and other translation methods; on the syntactic level the author took the order exchanging, segmentation, conversion between active and passives translation and so forth.This translation report is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, which explains the significance of this translation practice. The second chapter concerns translation tasks which introduce the book, the significance of translating this book and the steps which had to be taken in order to translate the book. The third part is about the theory framework which is a brief introduction of the Skopos Theory and the guidelines of these rules. Part four of this thesis concerns different translation methods and techniques under the guidance of the Skopos Theory. The last chapter explains what a translator can learn from this translation practice.Through this translation practice, the author hope she can provide more valuable information about Pakistan historical and political studies to domestic researchers.
