A Report On The E-C Translation Of The Beauty Of Pakistan

The report is based on the analysis of the translation practice of the book The Beauty of Pakistan,which was written by a Pakistani writer Aamir to introduce some spectacular aspects of the country,such as the scenery,mountains,valleys,people,civilization,history and so on.It almost took two months to complete this translation task.This task was completed by following the hermeneutics theory which was put forward by George Steiner.The report comprised of five chapters,which include the introduction,which specifies the background information of this translation practice;the task description,which analyzes the characteristics of the source text;the translation process,which describes three steps to translate the book;the case analyses,which is the most significant part of this thesis,which combines the theory with specific sentences to analyze some relevant problems,particularly,the four steps presented by George Steiner played a vital role in order to improve the quality of translating work that includes initial trust,aggression,incorporation and compensation.These steps were used as a baseline to translate the complete sentences and even the whole passage.Meanwhile,the strategy of domestication was used during this translation work.The last one is the conclusion,which summarizes the theoretical guidances of George Steiner s fourfold hermeneutic translation to this translation practice and presents some remaining unsolved problems during the process of translation,which need to be investigated after reading more relevant literature.In the enlightenment of my translation work,the author realized that it is indispensable to do a considerable amount of translation practical exercises in order to improve translation ability of a translator.Also,for different text types,different translation theories should be used to conduct the translation job.Besides,under the specific translation theory,different translation methods and skills need to be applied in doing the translation practice.
