On The Comparative Study Between Arts Of Shiyu Hua Pu

"Shiyu Hua Pu" is a woodcut Ci poetic painting anthology which created by Wang Shi in Huizhou at the late Ming Dynasty. Along with the development of woodcuts studies and Ci poetry researches, this once almost annihilated woodcuts collection has gain gradually known by the researchers. Wang Shi compiled this collection in order to practice his ideas on picturesque the Ci poetry.He picked works from "Cao Tang Shiyu",which is also an anthology, and then hired calligraphers and painters to create works of calligraphy and Ci poetic paintings, then he employed wood-carving workers to create woodcuts depend on those works, and finally, he published this collection.The painters that hired by Wang Shi imitated some woodcuts from "Gu Shi Hua Pu" and "Baiyong Tu Pu",after some re-decoration,these woodcuts reappear as Ci poetic paintings. All these factors make "Shiyu Hua Pu" an unique artwork.This thesis focus on the comparative relationship between Ci poetry and woodcut painting,and consists five mainly parts.Chapter one is the preliminary research on the theme, with the archival study and history research on the woodcut collection, and theoretical construction of Ci-painting comparative relationship.Chapter two is on the comparison of the artistic figures between Ci poetry and woodcut painting, which revealed the accordance and confusion phenomena between verbellcon and image.Chapter three is on the comparison of the structure between Ci poetry and wood cut painting, which revealed the grab, proliferation and empathy phenomena between the literary structure and the composition of paintings.Chapter four is on the style study between Ci poetry and woodcut painting, which revealed the phenomena of correspondence and different aesthetic delights between them. Chapter five is the conclusion of this thesis.This thesis seeks to achieve the comparative study of Shiyu Hua Pu depend on the equal position between Ci poetry and woodcut painting, hoping to provide a reference for comparative studies of arts, history study of literature and image and visual culture study.
