Poetic Painting Environment,

Nowadays a large number of Chinese flower-bird painters, especially the young, overlook the study and the cultivation of traditional Chinese culture, and accordingly retard their artistic development. This thesis, through analyzing the relation between poem and Chinese bird-and-flower painting, researches into the poetry of Chinese bird-and-flower painting, making for better creation of the painting.In the part of Preface, it is pointed out that art is not only the reflection of era life but also the succession of traditional art and that the thesis herein, through analyzing the expression of poetic emotion and painting conception in traditional bird-and-flower works—the poetry of bird-and-flower painting conception, is to enhance the self-cultivation of art creators in traditional art culture.Chapter One elucidates the original meaning of the concept of poetic emotion and painting conception, explains the respective inceptions and evolutions of poem and painting and analyzes their separate characteristics and artistic values.Poetic emotion refers to the artistic conception in poem that imparts to readers aesthetic feelings as well as the content of poem. This thesis mainly discusses how to make the artistic conception of bird-and-flower painting, like that of poem, render people aesthetic feelings or have strong emotional expression. What is called painting conception refers to the artistic conception that art works allow people to feel. It is the emotion that painters show in painting; it is the harmony between scene and emotion, true and false that art works present; meanwhile the aesthetic imagination that painters attract and develop is included.Chapter Two explains the poetic emotion and painting conception in traditional Chinese bird-and-flower painting, mainly analyzes the aesthetic value that the felicitous combination of poem and painting offers.The reason for that traditional bird-and-flower painting is full of"poetry"is that poem and painting can communicate in creating the beauty of vision and association. Inditing poem on painting is one of the characteristics of traditional Chinese painting. The poem is mostly used to express the painters'emotion or art view, or to intone the artistic conception in painting. Poem and painting are close to each other in art spirit and aesthetics idea and consist with each other in transferring emotion, expressing idea, conveying mind and seeking interesting. Whatever art conception painting can not express is likely to be attained by appraising the poem so that poem contains painting sentiment and painting sentiment reflects poetic emotion. Poem and painting is a perfect pair and brings out the best in each other.Chapter three concretely analyzes how poetic emotion and painting conception in traditional bird-and-flower painting bring impact on several modern painting schools and how they are reflected in the works of some modern bird-and-flower painting masters, showing the importance of succeeding to tradition. Painters of new era should know how to succeed to tradition, compose better art works and convey more and deeper emotion and sentiment in modern bird-and-flower painting.The era character of Chinese bird-and-flower painting represents reforming ink and brush and technique as well as developing subjects. And the humanism pursuit is the soul of art's character of times. Chinese painting contains the complete emotion of the painter and it comes down in one continuous line with traditional Chinese philosophy and literature. Only when the depth of emotion in art performance is fully developed, can the basis of poetic bird-and-flower painting be founded.This thesis, through discussing the poetic emotion and painting conception in Chinese bird-and-flower painting, means to carry forward the extensive and profound national culture, deeply develop the art charming of Chinese bird-and-flower painting and cultivate and advance the aesthetic consciousness and aesthetic appeal.
