Study On “emotion And Narrative” Thought In Nalan Xing De’s Writing

Nalan Xingde enjoys a high reputation in Qing Ci field, who is praised by Wang Guowei as “the best Ci writer since North Song Dynasty”.In fact, Nalan Xingde is not only famous for his Ci poetry, but also he gained literary achievements in many fields such as poetry and literary theory. By the study of his literary theory we can found “emotion and narrative” thought is the one core thought throughout his life, which always influenced and guided his literary career.The formation of Nalan’s “emotion and narrative” thought is not only influenced by our country’s classical poetry theory, but has a close relationship with the cultural system in Kangxi Dynasty, his own bitter experience, his friends and attitudes toward various literary phenomena. Current theses related on the research of Nalan are mainly focused on the cause of his Ci poetry style, the ideas of Ci poetry, classification of themes and creative features, but there are few researches on Nalan’s thought of literary theory, not to say the systematic discusses on the analysis of his “emotion and narrative ” thought. This thesis focuses on the comprehensive exploration of Nalan’s “emotion and narrative ” thought during his writing process. It includes three chapters. The first chapter contains two sections to discuss the essence of “emotion and narrative” thought and then its peculiarity. The essence of “emotion and narrative” thought is the issue of “emotion”, which is always the spirit of Nalan’s works. The characteristic of “emotion and narrative” thought can be divided into two points : the first one is vivid and moving and the second one is using emotion to affect the others, which will be discussed one by one. The second chapter mainly disscuss the cause of “emotion and narrative” thought, which contains three sections, respectively analyzing Nalan’s own experience, social factors such as Kangxi Dynasty literary field has a deep influence on his thought. Nalan’s poetry writing is the concrete practice of his poetic theory. The theory and the works can confirm each other. So the third chapter can stress on the concrete reflection of Nalan’s “emotion and narrative ” thought during his writing process, starting from Nalan’s creative practive, combined with the point of realism in his poetry’s contents, the technique usage of metaphors and analogy, and his pursuit of poetry character.
