Abstract/Summary:
Objective: In order to know the mental health status of the elderly with home-based care in community, this study makes a survey in Han Ye Street community, Nanyang City. In this thesis, there are a series of studies to analyze the factors of affecting the mental health of the elderly from different angles. The purpose is to offer the education strategies from the local conditions in practicing community home care policies and promote the development of surrounding areas in home-based care services for the elderly.Methods: this study adopts questionnaire survey to investigate the mental health status of the 300 elderly who are over 60(include) years old in Han Ye Street community, Nanyang City. Questionnaires include:(1) Questionnaire of Social Demographic Information(2) Sympotom Check-List 90(SCL-90). Statistical methods: independent sample t test, single factor variance analysis.Results:(1) the elderly with home-based care are quite different among individuals.(2) The mental health status of the female elderly is better than the male’s.(3) The mental health status of the elderly between 60 and 65 years old is worse than other groups; beyond this, the mental health status is decreased with increasing age.(4) The mental health status of the elderly with higher education background is better than ones with low degree; but the mental health status of the elderly with high school degree is worse than ones of illiteracy, primary, junior high school education background.(5) The mental health status of the elderly who have the income of over 1000 RMB monthly is better than those who income below 1000 RMB.(6) The mental health status of the elderly who live alone is worse than those who live with their partner and children.Conclusion:(1) the mental health status among the 300 elderly with home-based care in Nanyang City is lower than the national norm.(2) There are significant differences in terms of gender, age, education background, income and home situation.
