The rapid development of world economic integration and diversity puts forward new requirements towards higher vocational colleges’ talents cultivation. That is to say, it requires to cultivate high quality talents with ability to cross-cultural communication. English, which plays an important role in training students’ basic English application abilities, promoting cross-cultural communication abilities and forging applied talents, is an important basic required course in higher vocational colleges. However, the current educational teaching in higher vocational college English class still follows traditional teaching model focusing on language knowledge system. The teaching model particularly stresses on language teaching and pays less attention to culture teaching, which influence the cultivation of students’ cross-cultural communicative competence. The purpose of this article is to reflect the real current situation of public English culture teaching in higher vocational colleges, to help sorting out existing problems in the higher vocational English cultural teaching, so that we can analyze and solve problems, reform the higher vocational English teaching and improve students’ cross-cultural communication ability. Transforming ever research perspectives and based on the theory of educational culture, this article chooses three higher vocational colleges to do empirical research. By using the quantitative and qualitative methods, the paper analyzes the existing problems in higher vocational public English culture teaching and its causes, and further, puts forward the strategy suggestions within the scope of my ability. Finally, we hope that it can provide real practice application in higher vocational English culture teaching through the design and analysis of composition culture teaching case.The article is divided into seven parts.The first part is introduction, including the background, the meaning, the summary of study at home and abroad, contents and methods of the study.The second part is mainly theoretical analysis.It constructs the pedagogy theory foundation of cultural teaching from the dialectical interpretation of the relationship among language, culture and education.The third part investigates about the teachers and students from commercial college of Guizhou, Guizhou polytechnic of construction and Guiyang preschool education college based on the questionnaires and interview. It launches an investigation respectively from the cross-cultural communicative competence and culture teaching implementation situation, which gives the results and analysis of present situation and existing problems of culture teaching.The fourth part, combining with the third part’s investigation, studies the causes of English culture teaching problems in higher vocational colleges.The fifth part, combining with the third and the fourth part’s investigation, the strategies of higher vocational English culture teaching are put forward.The Part six selects English composition culture teaching and devise a case of composition culture teaching based on analyzing the problems of composition culture teaching researches so that we can provide the reference and thinking for the teachers.The seventh part is conclusion.
