Translating In Her Name:Dead Soul Into Chinese: An Introspective Report

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the science fiction genre. Commissioned by Fiberead, the author has translated Dead Soul, the third novel of the bestselling In Her Name series written by Michael R. Hicks, into Chinese. Based on this translation project, this report analyzes the translation methods adopted.First, this report analyzes the transfer methods for translating coined words, particular adverbs and phrases, and some words producing onomatopoeic effect. Second, this report analyzes the translation methods adopted to enhance readability of the Chinese version--addition, conversion, and division.
