Tuzu "Gesar" Mythology Research

Tibetan Gesar Epic has spread for thousands of years as the Tibet plateau is the core region. After it spread into marginal area where Tibetan and Tuzu live together, it eventually has formed a Tuzu special literature in terms of its generation among Tuzu folks for centuries. As a Tuzu valuable culture heritage, myths which contain in the Gesar epic reflects society, productions and life of early Tuzu and some of the myths was generated in terms of Tuzu’s real history. Studying Gesar epic is not only a kind of research for Tuzu oral traditional culture, national psychology and deep systematic phenomenons of the past, but also a sort of analyzation and excavation of the root of traditional folk culture. The aim of this thesis is to research the myths of Gesar epic, thus I can deeply focus on a certain topic.The myths of Tuzu Gesar epic had generated early in the history and it reflects material culture, spiritual culture and institutional culture during different period of time. "Talking and singing of Tuzu Gesar epic" became the magnum opus of the first national intangible cultural heritage which was published by the State Council in 2006. However, researchers who involve in the topic of Gesar epic is minimum at present and it has not been done a comprehensive system of research, it strolls among collection, clear up and translation of Tuzu Gesar epic. Except Wang guo ming’s <The linguistic research for Tuzu Gesar epic>, other researches mostly involve in a single text. Except Sang rgye rin chen’s human origin research of Gesar epic, there is barely a research has been done comprehensively and systematically about the myths of Gesar epic. So, there is still a quite big space for development of myths of Gesar epic.As a special social ideology, it is an important dimension of mythology to keep classified study systematically and theoretically.<vanity part> and <creation part> of Gesar epic are the most important materials about myths which contains the most mythical collection. As to exist in the form of oral tradition culture, Tuzu Gesar epic and myths have an inevitable relationship. Doing a comprehensive system research for the myths and its cultural connotation of Tuzu Gesar epic is an important part to study Tuzu Gesar epic concretely. This thesis will put emphasis on the fairy tales which were recorded in talking and singing of old artist Wang yong fu and<vanity part> and<creation part> which were translated, neatened and published by Wang guo ming. Following the changing of time and passing down orally for thousand of years, a large number of myths have already changed differently, but it still has important value to research. This thesis will classify the myths in Gesar epic in terms of mythology principle and compare between Gesar epic myths and folk fairy tales, explain the relationship and impacts of them.Tuzu epic is the work which was passed down orally by folks, and orality is the transmission system. Following the publication of Wang guo ming’s series of books about talking and singing system, constant development of Gesar epic culture, Tuzu Gesar epic myths will also step forward with a new content and new form. So, this thesis will also be effective with the development of Tuzu Gesar epic myth.
