The Study Of The Interrogative Words In Cenxi Dialect

This paper takes the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect as the research object. The objectives are describing the system of the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect and summarizing its language feature. Cenxi dialect is a branch of Cantonese.The interrogative words have unique feature in quantity, pronunciation, syntactic, semantics and pragmatics. It is s a valuable research topic. This paper will give a definition of the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect and analyze its semantic features and pragmatic features. This paper will compare the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect with Cantonese and Putonghua. There are four parts in this paper.The first chapter mainly discusses the research summary of the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect. The research on the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect still remains empty. And in the study of dialect, we lack of generality research. Firstly, we will define the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect. Secondly, we will analyze its semantic features and pragmatic features. Third, we will study the generality research.On the basis of collecting and analyzing corpus, the second chapter mainly judges the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect and describes the system. The findings are the modal particles “啩[kua55]、啵[po55]、(是)[met21]、喳[tsa3]、啊[∧21]、啦[la21]、吧[pa21]”.And then, analyzing and summarizing the phonetic characteristics, syntactic features, pragmatic characteristics of the interrogative in Cenxi dialect. The interrogative words are complementary in syntactic distribution and semantic function. The number of the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect is very rich. They can be divided into three semantic categories:doubt, consultation and answer. At the pragmatic level, the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect can indicate the focus, mark indirect behavior and preinstall.In the third chapter, the writer using the method of comparison to analysis the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect, standard Chinese, Cantonese. And then, the writer summarizes the words common features and specific characteristics of the quantity, pronunciation, syntactic, semantics and pragmatics. Compared with Cantonese, the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect have the following characteristics:firstly, the semantic system of the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect is not complete. The system lacks of the word, which use to denote general inquiries. Secondly, the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect have special word -- (是)[m□t21]. Third, the expressive function of the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect is diversity. In the common, they have great similarities in voice, word and tone. Compared with Putonghua, the interrogative words in Cenxi dialect have the following characteristics:firstly, the numbers of interrogative words are more abundant. Secondly, the phonetic forms are more diversity. Third, the semantic function is more single.
