This paper analyses the stress teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language at the present stage from textbook, teacher and student point, using methods combing description and analysis, and it mainly includes five parts:The first part introduces the related research achievement, the study purpose and the importance,the study methods and the subjects.The second part is study on stress distribution in textbooks. First of all, it investigates the proportion,content and rationality of Chinese stress knowledge in two sets of the most widely used and the most authoritative textbooks at the present stage. Secondly, it investigates the proportion,content and mode of Chinese stress exercises in these two sets of textbooks, and gives brief evaluation.The third part is study on status and problems of stress teaching at the present stage. It investigates thirty foreign students from different grades in College of International Cultural Exchange of Central China Normal University for items like leaning expectation, and analyses the record of the conversations,observing the study results. At the same time, it interviews ten full-time teachers and five part-time teachers of the college, investigating their teaching status and confusion.The forth part is the error analysis and teaching suggestion. Firstly, it summarizes the results of the speech analysis, listing the number of all the error types. Secondly, it analyses the four main reasons of stress errors:the ignorance of stress teaching, the negative transfer of first language, teachers’ lack of stress knowledge and the students’ over-generalization of the stress rules. Thirdly, it gives teaching suggestions from textbook writing, teachers’ teaching and students’ learning and practicing point.The fifth part is the conclusion. It summarizes the basic conclusions of the paper. In addition, it explains the inadequacies of the present study.
