This MTI project consists of two parts:an E-C translation around 10000 English words, and a 5000-word critical commentary. The original text-an academic paper-is selected from Multilingual Education, an open journal published on Springer of German. This paper presents the challenges facing European teacher education, and highlights potential solutions for the European language context in light of the increasing diverse student bodies by drawing from a perspective of European multilingualism and combining the policy instrument "European profile for language teacher education". Through translating, it is not only helpful for Chinese readers to gain a concept of European multilingual landscape, but also beneficial for Chinese education policy makers to learn a lesson from the insights and study methods in the original text. The project falls into two main parts:the source text with Chinese translation and the critical commentary. The commentary part firstly gives us an introduction; secondly it elaborates the difficulties in the process of translating from three levels; thirdly it illustrates the translation strategies under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory, and finally it summarizes the inspirations and experiences.
