International academic exchanges have been undertaking actively in the current context of political and economic globalization, and English has taken its major place in academic paper writing as the language most wildly used in the world. This translation project report is based on the translation of two English academic papers in Humanities and Social Science --- Chinese Villages as Didactic Texts and The Challenge of Developing a Business Ethics in China. Such kind of papers are characterized by high professionalism, information, objectiveness and formality, which are obstacles for translators in balance of comprehensive meaning translation from formal correspondence or formal equivalence. With an increase in academic interactions in China, such translations of academic papers enjoy an urgent need. Under the framework of Peter Newmark’s translation theory and on the basis of the translation practice of these two academic papers, the report analyzes the application of communicative translation in diction, amplification and omission, and restructuring these three concrete aspects, aiming to solve some common problems in the English-Chinese translation of academic papers. It is hoped that this translation report offers some referential value for the translation of academic papers of similar types.
