A Report On The Translation Of “open Access In Translation Studies: A Bibliometric Overview Of Its Distribution And Development”

This is a translation report on the Chinese translation of “Open access in translation studies: A bibliometric overview of its distribution and development,” an academic paper co-authored by Javier Franco Aixelá,Christian Olalla-Soler,and Sara Rovira-Esteva.This article focuses on illustrating the global situation of open access(OA)/ toll access(TA)dichotomy and the bibliometric factors that can potentially predict them,as well as the evolution of accessibility of documents in translation studies,so as to help scholars achieve a better understanding of OA in translation studies with bibliometric methods.The academic paper features massive passive voice sentences,interlinear notes.Since the approach adopted in it is bibliometrics,it is also full of terms and parameters related to statistics and bibliometrics.The translation of such an informative text must consider both the transmission of informative intention and the target text(TT)readers,ensuring communicative effects and readability.For this reason,under the guidance of Semantic Translation Theory and Communicative Translation Theory proposed by Newmark,the translator adopts annotation,literal translation and conversion to pursue an accurate and readable translation of the informative text.This project may help translation studies scholars and readers interested in OA better understand the global situation and evolution of OA in translation studies and seek inspiration to change the current situation of OA in China.
