Biography is an important part of literary works, which facilities better understanding of foreign culture. It plays an increasingly important role in cultural exchanges. Therefore, it’s of great necessity to conduct more researches on the translation of biography. The Wright Brothers was published in May, 2015. Once published, it enjoyed great popularity among readers. Stories of the brothers are widely known. They are the model of the American Dream and the tutors in chasing a dream for human beings. The biography is written by David McCullough, an American author who has won both the Pulitzer Prize and the American National Book Award. He is regarded as a master in writing biographies. The Constructive Translatology was put forward by Professor Lv Jun at the beginning of this century. Based on the critique and reflection of the previous Structuralism and Deconstructivism, a new translation paradigm, namely the Constructive Translatology, has been proposed. The Constructive Translatology regards translation as a process of reconstruction in which a translator uses another language to present the result which has been described by the original author in the source language.Focusing on reconstructing sentences, which includes adjusting the word order, turning words into sentences, translating the positive expressions into negative ones, translating the negative expressions into positive ones, combining sentences into one and dividing one sentence into two sentences, this translation report analyzes strategies applied in the translation of the excerpt from The Wright Brothers under the guidance of the Constructive Translatology. Translation methods and skills which have been applied in the translation are expounded through the case analysis. In the meantime, this thesis also summarizes the problems and solutions in the process of translation and therefore comes to the conclusion that on the basis of being faithful to the original work and writer, a translator should convey the right information in a dynamic way.
