A Multi-angle Analysis Of Shape-Measure Words “tiao”、“gen”、“zhi”

This thesis discusses the usages of a set of measure words "tiao", "gen", "zhi",these measure words have something in common,while there is also difference among them.There are five parts in this paper. The second and the third chapters are the most important parts of this paper:The first chapter is Introduction.It summarizes the significance of choosing this topic,coverage of the research,the current research results, research methods,source of the corpus.The second chapter is the synchronic description of "gen,zhi,tiao ".First, we select nouns which used with these measure words from tables attached with three books. "Eight Hundred Words in Modern Chinese " edited by Lv Shuxiang, "Research of Contemporary Chinese Language Measure Words" by He Jie, and "Modern Chinese Measure Words Usage Dictionary" by Guo Xianzhen. We will classify these nouns in detail and analyze semantic features of nouns which only go with one measure word of these three from synchronic angle.Moreover,we will analyze crossover phenomena of these measure words by usingquantitative analysis and qualitative analysis together.On the basis of the work mentioned above,we will compare these three measure words on collocation,object dimensions,shape expression,property of being filled with material,cognitive focus.The third chapter is the diachronic description of "gen,zhi,tiao ".we will study the evolution of these measure words and make cognitive analysis.Finally combining with the results of this chapter,we will explain some questions of the synchronic study.The fourth chapter is the study of the errors.We will analyze the errors about these measure words on the base of the HSK composition dynamic corpus,summarize the main types of errors and find the cause of the errors.Conclusion part summarizes the whole paper’s contents,also points out some deficiency of this paper.
